Watch Out for this TERRIBLE Email from IHG One Rewards

IHG One Rewards has released details of its summer 2023 promotion, that will run from 6 June until 31 August, 2023.

The promotion requires you to choose between two options:

  • 2,000 bonus points for every 2 paid nights or
  • 10,000 bonus points for every 4 paid nights

However, once you’ve made your decision, you cannot change it!

EMails from IHG One Rewards

You might have seen an email from IHG One Rewards in your inbox. It will look like this:

If you click on the “Register in 1 Click” button, you will automatically be registered for the 2,000 point option – no going back!!

Does it Matter?

Well yes… unless you know you are only going to stay 2-3 nights at an IHG hotel this summer, you would be far better off with the 10,000 point bonus (summarised below as Promo 2).

For example…

  • 2-3 nights = 2,000 bonus points from Promo 1 OR 0 bonus points from Promo 2
  • 4 nights = 4,000 bonus points from Promo 1 OR 10,000 bonus points from Promo 2
  • 6 nights = 6,000 bonus points from Promo 1 OR 10,000 bonus points from Promo 2
  • 8 nights = 8,000 bonus points from Promo 1 OR 20,000 bonus points from Promo 2
  • etc.

Unless you want to register for the 2,000 bonus point promotion, you should click here to be taken to the promotion’s webpage.  You can choose the more lucrative promotion…

Bottom Line

    Caught by this scheme. If I’m going to stay 4 nights I’ll take my business elsewhere. I tried to change to 10k but it caused a system error.

    Are there any new articles coming? Noticing it’s been over a month since this/the last one and it’s becoming not worth checking here even occasionally.
