In a post written earlier today, I placed Avios as fourth in my list of the best rewards from Tesco Clubcard. One of the reasons that Avios rank so low is that Tesco Clubcard and Avios seem to have replaced conversion bonuses with entries into a prize draw. This is unquestionably cheaper for Tesco / Avios to provide, whilst I’m sure that many people are attracted by the chance of a large sum of Avios, rather than a simple 10 or 20% bonus – after all, many people buy lottery tickets even though they are a sure loser in the long run…
Anyhow, Tesco Clubcard and Avios are running yet another promotion. It will run from now until 31 August, 2017.
For each £2.50 converted, you will receive one entry into the prize draw. The total of 1 million Avios is certainly misleading, as members are only in the running for:
- One prize of 50,000 Avios
- Three prizes of 25,000 Avios
- One hundred and fifty prizes of 5,500 Avios

I am not sure that I have seen any reports of a reader being successful in one of these draws, although surely a Head for Points reader will have done and I just missed it.
Are you tempted by the prize draw? Or do you delete the e-mail as quickly as I do?
Aprize draw doesn’t interest me. Im holding off for another conversion bonus – hopefully as good as the last one 😉
I suspect you’ll be waiting awhile…
But of course there’s no reason to rush into converting vouchers. Once the need arises, the conversion is quite quick. In the interim you might find a better use for those vouchers.
I have to agree, BAEC & Avios just seem interested anymore in enticing people to convert their vouchers to them like their competition does.
When was the last time avios or baec ran a bonus conversion from clubcard?
I was back to 2015. I don’t think there gonna be the conversion bonus in the near future.
I know you probably won’t believe this, but I actually won the 50k avios! And what’s more I didn’t even realise until ten minutes ago when I checked my BA app and saw a massive balance. Went to avios app and there it was – Tesco Prize Draw! Bit gobsmacked to be honest.

Thanks. I have a conference in Tokyo next year, which I’d been dreading trying to find the fare for. Happy days! I see it was one entry for every £2.50 of Tesco vouchers, and I exchanged about £40 worth as I wanted an Avios reward flight to Berlin (which I got!). So I guess I had multiple entries to the prize draw.
