I just checked my account and there were a few new Amex hotel offers available that might be worth a quick look if you haven’t noticed them yet – totalling £135 off if you can make use of all of them:

£35 off when you spend £100+ with Thistle Hotels by 29th September 2017. Thistle Hotels has quite a few properties in London, with the Thistle at Heathrow Terminal 5 probably the most well-known (to InsideFlyer readers anyway!). Participating hotels: Thistle City Barbican, Thistle Trafalgar Square, Thistle Euston, Thistle Bloomsbury, Thistle Holborn, The Kingsley, Thistle Hyde Park, Thistle London Heathrow and Thistle Poole.

£50 off when you spend £195+ with Guoman Hotels by 29th September 2017. Participating hotels are The Grosvenor, The Cumberland, The Tower and The Royal Horseguards hotels in London, which all look rather nice.

£50 off when you spend £250+ with Red Carnation Hotels by 13th September 2017. Red Carnation Hotels include the superb Milestone in London. According to the terms, all properties on the Red Carnation website apart from Ashford Castle and Anchor Inn are eligible, but the charge to your card must be in British Pounds.

Note that you need to book, pay and complete your stay by the dates above. The terms for each offer also state that the statement credit will be given “per stay”, so it looks like you can get the discount as many times as you like during the eligible period.

There was also a 10% offer on my account for OneFineStay, which seems to offer luxury holiday rentals in some key markets like London and Paris.

How to register for the Amex hotel discounts

If you have an American Express card issued directly by American Express (Gold/Platinum, SPG, BA/BAPP etc), login to your American Express online account, click on the “offers” tab and then click on “save to card” when you see the discount/s you want.

If the offer isn’t on your account yet, I’d wait a couple of days because it can take a while for Amex to add them sometimes, and then if it still isn’t there I would send a quick message asking if they could register you.

I can’t see the offer on the Amex Connect site (where you can register Amex cards that aren’t actually issued by American Express – like the MBNA issued American Airlines card etc), but keep an eye out as they might well pop up on there at some point.

Good deal?

If you’re going to be making a direct booking with any of the hotel groups above anyway, then obviously yes!

You can find all of the hotel groups on TopCashback, which is great because the thing I really like about American Express statement credit offers is that the discount comes after you’ve been charged, so can be stacked with any other sort of discount or cashback available.

Always consider whether you might be better off booking through Hotels.com or a similar site though.

Conclusion

I quite like the look of the Guoman Royal Horseguards (from the outside it looks great anyway! – pictured in the image at the top), so may see if I can get the numbers to stack up, as a treat next time I’m in London!

Anyone else tempted by any of the offers?
