If anyone here is interested in Hyatt stays, they are opening a new hotel near Heathrow. The Hyatt Place London Heathrow Hayes opens June 1st 2016. Be aware though that calling it the 'Hyatt Place London Heathrow' is inaccurate because it's a good six miles away. Presumably there'll be a Heathrow Hoppa running! An advance purchase room is £64.
It makes you wonder how serious Hyatt are about the UK market. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Hyatt properties when I can find them! Not a great location for Heathrow. Not fantastic for Stockley Park. On the other hand, if you need to be located next to an Argos, Wickes, Currys and Sainsburys, this could be the property for you.
Very true! On another note, Starwood is opening a new hotel in Brighton later this year. Potentially interesting to anyone flying from Gatwick Airport. 20 minutes on the train.
I've done the same in the other direction. The Hampton in Croydon is about 3 minutes walk from East Croydon station....if you take the right exit. re: the Starwood opening....at what point does it become more economically viable to open it directly as a Marriott instead of going through a rebranding process?
It's going to be an Aloft, though I take your point! Useful list: https://www.starwoodhotels.com/corporate/directory/hotels/all/list.html
It's a great resource....and hence another Hyatt thread ends up talking about Starwood. 69 new or future (SPG) hotels in Europe. The two that will serve my needs are: Four Points by Sheraton Moscow Vnukovo Airport - Opening March 1, 2017 Sheraton Donnafugata Golf Resort, Ragusa, Sicily - Opening July 15, 2016 Lots of new (or adopted) hotels in Paris....
Looks like the Hotel Hoppas won't be serving the Hyatt so it's going to be a cab ride which really limits how much they can charge. I am booked the first week of June to give it a go.
I make a point of working out the free transport options for Heathrow hotels so I will be looking into the new Hyatt. It's outside the free travel zone but there will surely be a bus that stops somewhere nearby.
Under my last contract, this would have been a useful hotel. I worked in Oxford. The price of staying there was extortionate, so I used to stay at Heathrow. This hotel has good access to the A40.
Indeed...or two buses. The buses that leave the hotel (and there is a stop opposite - albeit, inaccessible due to barriers down the central reservation) go down The Broadway, but don't get particularly close to Southall station from which you could have taken the Heathrow Connect. This looks like prime Uber territory to me....oh look we're back to Starwood again!
Yes, there are three buses (207, n207, 427) which stop near the hotel but none of the routes go anywhere near Heathrow. You could get a taxi to either Hayes or Southall stations and pick up the Heathrow Connect from there, which would presumably save a bit of taxi money. The more I look at the place they've put this hotel, the more stupid it is... how many people will want a Heathrow hotel that is nowhere near Heathrow with poor transport connections? Especially considering Novotel and someone else are about to open new properties on Bath Road! That's a good place to be if you want airport footfall. I daresay I'll try the Hyatt at some point just to see what it's like.
The 207/427 go to/from Ealing Broadway and Ealing Common but that is in the wrong direction. I do fear this hotel is going to be challenged to persuade anyone it's really a Heathrow Property.
Maybe they secretly know that Bath Road is going to be demolished for a third runway. In which case they're ahead of the game
MilesFromBlighty has posted a review of the hotel. http://milesfromblighty.boardingarea.com/2016/06/20/review-hyatt-place-heathrow-airport/
Given a choice, at a particular location, I'd happily use a(n) Hyatt, as I have happy memories of Philly, Indian Wells to name a couple. But, I still don't understand who will use this property other than die-hard Hyatt fans like Mike, or people who don't know better. This is not really an airport hotel. I don't know what it is.
I did enjoy my stay - the staff are super helpful. The location is tricky. Overall my cost from London->Hotel->Heathrow was no more in total than London->Heathrow with Uber. I had a good night stay. Room service was pricey but there is supermarket across the main road. I will try Public Transport next time I stay here, but the journey time from London is about an hour!
