Sorry, I've got the bug so no doubt another stupid question, but is there a list/post of ways to get points for free or minimal spend e.g e-rewards one via Avios. Thanks

    Excellent question!

I seem to remember writing something like that a long time ago, but obviously offers come and go. I'll see what I can dig up.

Also - welcome to InsideFlyer BannerJohn!

The easiest way to find out about free or cheap mile/point options is to follow InsideFlyer UK on Twitter or Facebook. We usually manage to write about most things we hear about. The issue is grouping them all into one post, since many are limited time only.

Haha - well, of course! But a central/updated forum would be useful too I think.

    Hey!
If you're looking at getting free avios then i would suggest getting the AMEX Gold card, using my referral link you would get 22,000 instead of 20,000 points for spending £2k within 3 months - the way you can get them for free is by booking a fully refundable las vegas hotel on expedia for £2k...get the points and then get the money refunded from expedia, all very simple...wallah you now have 22,000 extra avios points at your disposal!

Please note that the card is FREE for the first year, but costs £140 per year from the second year onwards...if you cancel the card beforehand and wait 6 months you can claim the 22,000 points again :)

Feel free to use my link below:

Now adding InsideFlyer to my Twitter and Facebook. I have an Amex Gold Preferred Rewards Card. Do American Express (New user here), actually run limited promotions like double points etc for existing customers? I thought you were just stuck with what you get when you sign up.

Incidentally like the fellow above, who's potentially used up his 10 referrals for the year, if you want to follow my link below, you can also apply for American Express Preferred Rewards Card with 2000 more points than the standard the 20,000 you get if you sign up direct. That's 22,000 points! Enough for a return flight to Europe or some Amazon Gift Vouchers! You need to spend £2000 in your first three months (Great time of year to do this with Christmas around the corner). This card is free for the first year so if you want sign up with an extra 2000 points click below! :)
