I've got a (Qatar rebooked) flight with Turkish Airlines which should, I think based on the table at http://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/online-services/seat-selection , qualify for free seat selection. However, I can't seem to work out how to actually do it... If I try View Flight details from https://www4.thy.com/mybookings/login.tk?airline=null and enter my booking reference, it takes me to a page showing the flights, but with no seating shown, and no menu items for seats. If I go to http://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/online-services/seat-selection and click "Seat Reservation" it gives the error "Dear esteemed customer, paid seat selection service can only be carried out with electronic tickets that begin with 235(Turkish Airlines E-Ticket Number)." The Turkish Airlines mobile app won't let me view the booking at all, giving the error "This ticket with reservation code (PNR) cannot be changed through our mobile channels. Please contact one of our representatives on the channel through which you bought your ticket". (The BA app and website had no issues with letting me pick seats when Qatar re-routed me onto BA, likewise the AA app is quite happy to let you pick seats on non-AA booked/ticketed flights too) All in all, not a great first impression with Turkish Airlines systems... Can anyone let me know the trick for selecting my seat despite their apparently rubbish website and useless mobile app?
Ah ha! You have to not use the main Turkish Airlines site.... Instead, if you use the "new" (beta?) "p" site at https://p.turkishairlines.com/en-gb/index.html then you can select seats even on a non-253 ticket! Seems rather a mess...
I was eventually going to get around to double-checking, since I have an Aeroplan reward on TK coming up and I thought I had booked seats already...
