People often talk about IHG's PointBreaks as being the best value hotel redemption offer out there, but I think that the SPG (Starwood) Category 1 and 2 hotel redemptions run them very close. So what's the points cost? Category 1 hotels will cost you 3000 Starpoints a night, or just 2000 Starpoints at weekends. Category 2 hotels are 4000 Starpoints or 3000 at weekends. "Weekends" are Fri/Sat night. Compare that to the 35,000 sometimes needed at the top end Category 7. Ok there can be a marked difference in quality, but the fact that the same hotel chain can have hotels at 2,000 points a night and 35,000 points a night is pretty remarkable, A full list of Category 1 hotels is here.
