For a long time now, Amex Gold has been our “go to” option for anyone looking to earn easy miles or points. Not only is it free for the first year, it also offers a generous sign-up bonus (currently a massive 32,000 points).

In addition to ongoing points-earning, it also offers a range of discounts and bonuses with a number of third party retailers. This morning, it uploaded a very interesting one – for the next year, all holders of the Amex Gold will get £10 credit with Deliveroo a month, redeemable as 2 X £5 discounts on orders.

To benefit, you simply need to go to the “Amex Offers” section of your online account, and add the offer to your card. Once added, it will apply for the full year and can be used straight away.

The terms are plentiful but pretty clear, the key ones for me were as follows:

• Enrolled Card Accounts will be eligible to receive up to £5 twice per calendar month in statement credits for transactions charged to the Card to which the offer is saved.
• Statement credits not used during the applicable calendar month do not roll over to the following month and will expire. If you have not redeemed your credit in each calendar month you forfeit receiving this credit.
• Transactions made with a Supplementary Card will not count
• Credit should appear on your Billing Statement within five business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the transaction date.

The “non-rollover” point is fair enough, and the exclusion of the supplementary card should always be remembered.

It’s not clear to me if this will continue beyond May 2023, but it certainly will apply for a full year, subject to you registering just the once.

Is this any good?

Clearly, if you’re a regular with Deliveroo then this is more or less free cash. For those who use it less frequently, it’s a great opportunity to get two solid discounts a month on a popular and very useful delivery option.

If you want to stack this offer with the massive 32,000 point sign up bonus then hurry, as the 32,000 bonus runs out on 12 May (when it reverts to 20,000 points).
