Starwood Preferred Guest has announced details of its latest promotion called “More Nights, More Starpoints”. The promo will run from 16 April until 20 July, 2018.
The promotion is shockingly bad. SPG members will receive 250 bonus Starpoints per night, starting with their third night. There is a total cap of 12,000 bonus Starpoints, which really shouldn’t be that hard to avoid, considering that it would require 50 nights to reach! (including the first two “no bonus” nights)
It’s also worth double-checking the list of participating hotels. It’s hard to imagine that any hotel would find 250 Starpoints per night to be too rich, but you never know. You can find the list by clicking here.
Despite the poor promo, you obviously should still register regardless, since something is still better than nothing. You can do that by clicking here. As usual, only paid stays will qualify for the bonus points.
SPG and Marriott Rewards now appear to be coordinating their promotions. The version to be offered by Marriott is… wait for it…
Same deal. The bonus points only apply from your third night, with a total cap of 36,000 points. You can register and find more details here.
Marriott’s version really shows how confident the combined company feels about hotel occupancy. Send a tweet on a Sunday evening to earn 1,000 points for free. (now finished) Spend $$$ to stay a night at one of our hotels to earn 750 bonus points.
Hopefully IHG Rewards Club or Hilton Honors will pick up the slack with a more lucrative promotion for the spring and early summer!

What’s your valuation of a Marriott point, Craig? Thanks!
Craig Sowerby says
1/3 of a Starpoint, and you can buy those in the 35%-off promos for 1.6p or so. –> 0.5-0.55p per Marriott point. This also puts a Category 9 hotel night (45K points) in the range of £225-250, which feels about right to me.
But if you can get your hands on 270K Marriott points and do a Travel Package with 120K Alaska miles, you’re going to receive a higher value for sure.
