We have previously noted just how useful earning (and converting) Tesco Clubcard points is for any traveller looking to maximise value.
The travel offers available via Tesco Clubcard include a great deal with Virgin Flying Club: 1 Clubcard Point can be converted into 2.5 Virgin Flying Club Miles.
This already generous conversion rate is currently even better. You will earn an extra 10% in miles when you convert your Tesco Clubcard points into Flying Club miles before 13 November 2016. So, every £2.50 in Clubcard vouchers will earn you 688 Virgin Flying Club miles, rather than 625.
And there’s more…
You will also earn a further 1,000 free Virgin Flying Club miles when you turn on “Auto Convert”: a process that automatically turns all your Tesco Clubcard points into Virgin Flying Club miles.
You can of course turn off the auto convert when the 1000 miles have reached your account.
Should you convert?
This is not by any stretch the most generous bonus Tesco/Virgin have offered, with 15%, 20% and even 30% bonuses having been dished out in the past.
However, if you need some Virgin Flying Club miles, you should absolutely convert. By itself (i.e. at 625 miles per £2.50 in Clubcard points), the Virgin Flying Club/Tesco Clubcard deal is good value, and it’s currently 10% better.
The slight danger is that a better deal comes along in a few months, but if it does – so what? It doesn’t make this a bad deal.
From previous offers, do they apply the extra 10% miles after the end of the promo?
I auto converted this Q and the redemption is within the promo time period stated.
I just converted and has hit flying club already but no bonus 10% has hit yet. Can’t see any explanation of timings on the promotion page
Hi Henry – see response to Adam. The bonus should happen “sometime after 13 November”. Sorry to be vague but that’s all I’ve been told.
Provided that your conversion took place after 1 October, you will get the 10% bonus. It will be applied after the promo has finished, on 13 November.
Has anyone had their bonus posted yet? I have not. Have contacted Virgin but they will take a while to reply.

Everybody seems to be getting an extra 10%, but the promo ends today.
The next promo would be around the next Clubcard voucher issue (August?) if there’s going to be one. But lately 10% is as good as it gets so hardly worth getting excited about…
