What are people's "go-to" sites for car hire? I generally (in fact always) use carrentals.co.uk, getting cashback from topcashback.co.uk of course (which has always landed like a dream). Invariably seems to offer great value plus cashback, but is there something obvious I'm missing?
Funnily enough I have always found carrentals.co.uk sniffs out the very best bargains - but I am no expert on the subject. The cashback is a definite sweetener at 5.25%.
I can't post links because I'm a newbie, but once you've got a reasonable, cancellable rate from somewhere else, I've been submitting to AutoSlash, and have been very pleased with the results. My last three trips to the US have shrunk dramatically, and usually once you've confirmed a re-book with them the first time, they'll automatically re-book you once the price goes down. At Easter I was looking at prices more than $1000 for two weeks at DFW, and ended up with the same class of car with a national chain for $250. Since it doesn't cost anything, it's worth a punt.
Is there ever any point booking directly with one of the big boys? There seem to be so many discount codes out there from your airline, credit card etc. I so seldom hire a car that I am out of touch, but was shocked at the prices quoted when I needed to do a one-way hire from FRA-DUS.
I have just cheated on my previously favoured carrentals.co.uk and made a booking with rentalcars.com. The reason? Prices seemed slightly better, and cashback on Topcashback was 4.2% rather than 3.15%.
I would avoid using Goldcar though if they come up as an option. Twice they have charged me for scratches that conveniently appeared after i returned the vehicles :-(
I would recommend AutoEurope.co.uk for rentals in the USA. Used them twice now in Florida and Texas and the price was best out there and you got lots of extra insurance included, compared to usrentacar.co.uk which we used to use.. We have chosen Alamo rental each time and I liked that we got confirmation with the Alamo booking reference straight away, allowing us to do the skip counter and online check in. Saved us lots of time, specially in Florida. You can also get cashback with Quidco or Topcashback.
I would recommend autoslash.com When you book through them, they constantly check for better rates every day and automatically book you onto the cheaper rate.
I will give it a try. I have been looking up for bonus miles lately but don't see anything interesting around right now. Thank you for the advice.
had anyone tried transfers.indiator.com for airport transfer services in India. some people suggest me this site.
I fully agree I booked a car with Gold Car in Lanzorte for 3 days and they charged for a full tank of petrol and told me to return the car empty and impossibility for so short a rent I paid them in advance they was no choice also they charged fo a scratch on the car I never seen before acceptance
the best thing to do is use your HERTZ Gold membership from your amex gold card...referral is below! you get very cheap rates using this... http://amex.co.uk/refer/darreenhde?XLINK=MYCP Another option is changing the car hire website to another country like UAE or some random country as its always usually cheaper than the UK version...just use a FX Fee card
Give Autoslash a try works like a charm in the UK especially because you can have fully flexible rates and decline CDW
