Marriott Vacation Club, the time-share branch of Marriott, is currently offering 15,000 free Marriott Bonvoy points to anyone who attends a 60 minute pitch, conducted as a “virtual sales presentation” via a Teams video call.

This offer runs until 30th June 2021.

How to benefit from the Marriott Vacation Club bonus

To take advantage of this offer, you simply need to call +34 951 082 370 from Monday to Thursday, any time from 10 am to 8 pm.  There’s also a “call me back” option here.

Make sure you mention the 15,000 points for the virtual sales presentation offer, and all will be arranged.

Is it worth it?

I am not going to comment on the specific value of the actual Marriott Vacation Club offering – that would take a hefty post in itself. This article basically assumes you are just sitting through the presentation with no intention to take it further.

At a conservative valuation, 15,000 Bonvoy points are worth around £90, so this is worth giving some thought to. However, be aware that these sales agents can be quite pushy and generally do an excellent job of making the offer seem very enticing. As such, you will just need to stay firm on not wanting to progress, and clearly you are under no obligation whatsoever to do so.

Further, according to Marriott, “the sales presentation lasts approximately 60 minutes or more, depending on level of interest“. As such, I am reasonably confident that if you are happy to simply (I suggest politely) insist you only signed up to this for the points, it will probably not last very long at all.

Marriott also state that “If married or living together, couples must attend the sales presentation together”. I strongly recommend that you therefore try to ensure you are not “married or living together” for the purposes of this call, as it will inevitably complicate things.

Anything else?

Yes. As an alternative to the offer, you may want to find out about some very low cost getaways, such as a 3-night stay in a 2-bedroom apartment including car hire or €75 resort voucher, for just €269.

Note that the hotel stays have flexibility to travel within the next 12 months, and a rescheduling fee waiver for travel booked up to 31 December this year.

The offer price of €269 applies between 1 November and 31 May. An additional €50 nightly supplement is payable for all bookings from 1 June to 31 October.

If this does appeal, ask about the stay offers too. However, the catch is that for these discounted stays, you need to attend a 90 minute presentation during your holiday. I would gently submit that if the pressure of a sales pitch concerns you at all, the virtual meeting is the better option.

We’ve covered time share bait offers over on InsideFlyer.com recently. Ultimately, they can be superb value, but I repeat here what I said there:

Clearly I can’t tell you exactly what they’re going to offer you, and that offer in itself may be a perfectly good deal. However, the key point is – they will be doing all they can to get you to part with further cash, and tie you in to time shareownership. So be prepared to heavily analyze what is on offer, and don’t get swept up by enthusiastic marketing hype or pressure to part with your cash “before it’s too late” etc etc. These people are very skilled marketers, believe me.

Ultimately, you may well bag yourself an absolutely fantastic bargain with this deal. However, what’s important is you go into it with your eyes open.
