Today on InsideNectar, we look at a neat little bonus on Nectar points (and therefore Avios…) being offered by online auction giant eBay.

Until 14 February, not only will you earn 1 Nectar point per £1 spent  (up to a maximum of 300 per item) , you’ll earn a massive 6 bonus points too. That means you’ll earn a total of 7 points per £1 spent. Given that you can now directly convert Nectar points to Avios at a rate of 0.625 Avios per Nectar point, that’s a massive 4.375 Avios per £1 at eBay.

The only catch is that to earn the bonus points, you’ll need to spend at least £15.

Bear in mind that these days eBay is much more a straightforward online marketplace that a mere online auction option, with a plethora of “buy it now” options and official stores available. As a result, if you are looking to buy something online, now is a very good time to price check it on eBay, as – based on our valuation – you’re getting around a 4% rebate on your spend.

If of any interest, eBay is currently doing a deal of up to 70% off on outdoor clothing, for example. You can also get 20% off various “Valentines gifts” (albeit this does appear to just be make-up). So, some potentially nice discounts with a further 4% rebate – a lovely bit of deal stacking.
