I got an email this morning from American Express offering a year’s free access to ‘Calm Premium’ – worth £28.99.

According to the terms here, anyone with a UK personal Amex card can sign up for free.
What is Calm?
I had only vaguely heard of it before today, but essentially it is an app designed to help improve “Sleep, Meditation and Relaxation”:
“Calm is the #1 app for Sleep, Meditation and Relaxation. Join the millions experiencing better sleep, lower stress, and less anxiety with our guided meditations, Sleep Stories, breathing programs, stretching exercises, and relaxing music”.
With the ongoing health/family/financial stresses that Covid-19 has caused many to suffer, access to something designed to help people relax and sleep better is definitely welcome.
Is Calm any good?
Honestly, no idea yet – I was rather hoping that readers who have experience with the app might be able to offer their view in the comments below.
At the very least, I intend to give some of the ‘Sleep Stories’ read by the likes of Stephen Fry and Eva Green a go, and might well try some of the other content too.

Auto-Renewal & Cancellation

I really like it so far. Some good exercises for destressing.
I was recommended the app 2 and a half years ago by my wife. I’ve used the app for a 10 minute meditation (with Bose noise cancelling headphones) every day since and it really is a great way to start a day/waste 10 minutes on a plane. My wife stopped using it and she’s stressed out.
Good deal for those with a Vitality life insurance plan. Can use Calm to get extra activity points every week.
