Iberia Plus has returned yet again with another 50% bonus when buying Avios. The promotion will run until 29th February 2020.

Normally you can purchase a maximum of 100,000 Avios per year from Iberia Plus, but for the duration of this promo, you can buy 200,000 Avios instead. With the 50% bonus added on top, you would end up with 300,000 Avios. Naturally, you could then send them over to British Airways Executive Club thanks to “Combine my Avios“.

How much will it cost me?

The cheapest “per Avios” price requires you to purchase 100,000 Avios for 1,800 euros. Thanks to the 50% bonus, you’d actually receive 150,000 Avios.

Given current exchange rates, you’d be spending approximately £1,500 for 150,000 Avios, or roughly 1p per Avios.

Should I buy?

Buying speculatively at 1p per Avios probably isn’t a great idea, but with a specific redemption in mind it could make a lot of sense.

For example, if you require a substantial number of Avios to use an American Express 2-for-1 voucher in Club World or First Class, or to to book a Business Class reward on Iberia, then you can easily save money against paid fares by buying Avios during the 50% promo.
