You can currently get some cracking Virgin Atlantic Upper Class sale fares for direct flights between Manchester and Boston.
‘Upper Class’ is what Virgin call their Business Class, and it’s widely regarded as one the most fun cabins in the sky.
The Virgin Atlantic site is pretty annoying to use these days, so I would strongly recommend using Kayak or a similar site instead to search and then clicking though to Virgin from there.
~£1000 is the price when booking with Virgin, but another advantage of using a different site to search with first is that they sometimes dig up even lower fares for booking through a third party:
The best thing about these fares is that availability is wide open from April all the way through to 18th October – including all the peak summer holiday dates!
Stays of 3, 7, 10, 14, 17 etc, nights seem to fit the flight schedule and get the best prices. That means you can either just pop over for a quick break, or take advantage of the low fares to start/finish a longer trip to North America in Boston.
Bottom line
Sub £1000 for direct Return flights in Business Class between the UK and the USA is excellent value.
The fact that there is availability during the Summer Holidays too, makes this a superb Virgin Atlantic Upper Class sale fare!

Nice. I wonder what’s up with Boston? I was recently tracking a Skyteam J fare between MAD and BOS for £800 or so.

Haha, it’s great! – though hotels can be very expensive these days. I’ll be spending a couple of days there quite soon.

Hi, great site and appreciate the advice!
Curious though – how did you manage to find these great prices? The VS site advertises £1399 Man-Bos and I could only find fares at £1500. Can’t get close to £1k on various dates. Do you think I’m doing something wrong?

Hi – cheers!
Have you tried using Kayak to search and then clicking through to Virgin rather than searching on the Virgin site itself? I know that sounds like it shouldn’t make a difference, but trust me it does! – I find the new Virgin site really awkward to search.
If you want to see a wider spread of possible dates than you can with Kayak, use ITA MAtrix and search by month. You can’t click through from ITA though, so then go to Kayak and search the specific dates you want, then click through to Virgin.
If you still have any issues finding the prices, feel free to let me know the sorts of dates you’re looking for and I’ll have a look.
