We have covered the airberlin bankruptcy before on Insideflyer. We have seen a number of status match offers for airberlin elites from oneworld airlines:

Whilst Lufthansa is taking over parts of airberlin, the German flag carrier has decided against offering a status match for airberlin elites as a spokesperson told the German daily newspaper Berliner Morgenpost.

In an interesting move however Lufthansa’s subsidiary Eurowings announced in an email to corporate customers that Eurowings will grant lounge access to airberlin elites until 24 March 2018 provided you:

  • have booked a SMART or BEST fare;
  • present your airberlin topbonus gold or platinum card at the lounge entrance;
  • you fly on Eurowings; Lufthansa flights do not qualify.

Airberlin topbonus members, who are not yet members of Eurowings’ own frequent flyer scheme Boomerang Club, will also earn 3,000 bonus miles simply for signing up via this link by 31 December 2017. You need 10,000 miles for a one-way short-haul redemption. You can find out more about this offer here.
