Now that the end of Air Berlin is nigh, the chase for Air Berlin regulars is well-and-truly on!

First we saw a status match being offered by Finnair. Now Iberia Plus is offering a similar status match opportunity.

You are eligible for this status match if you currently hold one of the following membership tiers:

  • airberlin Topbonus Silver
  • airberlin Topbonus Gold
  • airberlin Topbonus Platinum

  • Miles & More Frequent Traveller
  • Miles & More Senator
  • Miles & More Hon Circle

Unfortunately, Iberia Plus is not matching to its top-tier, 2-year Platinum status, so I can’t imagine too many Lufthansa Hon Circle members are rushing to sign up.

But for those Topbonus members with Gold or Platinum status or Miles & More members with Senator or Hon Circle status, Iberia Plus is offering to status match to its Gold level of status, which is the equivalent of Oneworld Sapphire (the lowest level that provides lounge access).

If interested, you should visit this webpage – the Germany settings only allow for the German and Spanish language – and send an email to : [email protected] with a photo of your Topbonus or M&M card.

Are you a Topbonus elite member looking for a new home? Which frequent flyer programme are you inclined to choose? Stick with Oneworld, or switch to Lufthansa?

Weird. Either they changed the email address since I wrote my post or something got chopped during a cut-and-paste.

I’ve updated the email address in the body of my post.
