For those that are 'budget' travellers, are you bothered by working your way through the status tiers?

I like the idea of some of the additional perks but really I have an AMEX that lets me use a fair amount of lounges if I need them. Generally I just fly whoever is the cheapest, although BA's more generous hand luggage limit...

If anyone is new to amex then give this ago to get the Amex Preferred Reward Gold Card. I joined Amex this year and am loving this from the time I got it. The reason I went for it was:
1) persuasion by am avid Avios points collector who sold the benefits of amex

I'm flying in Club World from Hong Kong to London on the BA A380.

Looking at the floor plans there are two club world cabins. One on the lower and upper deck.

I'm just wondering if anyone can offer any advice as to where the best place to sit is?

I've made my very first Avios redemption with BA. I'm flying in Club World on the A380 from Hong Kong to London.

If I turn up at the airport early, without checking in and approach the sales / ticketing desk, will they be able to upgrade me to first using Avios?
