For those that are &#039;budget&#039; travellers, are you bothered by working your way through the status tiers?<br />

If anyone is new to amex then give this ago to get the Amex Preferred Reward Gold Card. I joined Amex this year and am loving this from the time I got it. The reason I went for it was: <br />
1) persuasion by am avid Avios points collector who sold the benefits of amex <br />
2) the gold card is brilliant as you pay nothing to have the card for the first year and can easily make 22,000 if you use the referral link and additional 3000 points if you get an add on card. That&#039;s will easily get you...<br />

I took out a BAPP Amex.<br />
Achieved the signup bonus after spending the required amount within the timeframe.<br />
Parked it.<br />
Wife got a BAPP and we&#039;ve just hit the target for the signup bonus.<br />
Going to switch back to my BAPP Amex now and continue towards the trigger point for the companion voucher.<br />
<br />
What do I do about the wife&#039;s BAPP Amex?<br />
Do I wait for all the Avios to be shifted over to BAEC and then cancel the card? downgrade to the free BA Amex? something else?<br />

I dont want to wait for the return flight to be available as by then the outbound flight may have no availability.<br />
Advice online seems to be to book the outbound flight as soon as its available then call BA to add in the return  flight but if I just book the outbound as a single fare with my companion voucher will the system accept the voucher as valid for the return flight ?<br />
