This morning’s post delivered an offer from American Express “Seeing Double with Hilton”. It quite simply offers an extra American Express Membership Reward (MR) points for every £1 spent on participating Hilton hotels. So in the UK, you’ll get 2 points per £ spent in Hilton hotels.
As you can see, the offer runs from 25th July until 25th October. The small print says the offer only applies to those that receive an invite, and also talks about saving the offer to your card, but doesn’t provide a link to do so. I think this is wording carried over from the online account offers, which do need to be saved to your card. Frustratingly, I have recently cancelled my gold card so I can’t check. The mailout for the offer crossed with me cancelling my card. Anyhow, it’s pretty clear that the offer is only for those that receive an actual invite.
A list of participating hotels along with the offer details is available here
If you have the Hilton Barclaycard visa card, that card accrues 3 Hilton points for every £1 spent at Hilton hotels. You can transfer Amex membership rewards points to Hilton Hhonors points at the rate of 1:2. So the Amex card, when used with this offer, accrues more points than the Barclaycard visa card. But if the hotel you are booking is not on the above list, you should pay with the Hilton Visa card.
Dont forget to double dip
If you are booking a Hilton stay for August, register for the current Hilton double points offer. This offer provides double hilton base points for all stays up until the 31st of August. You can find the details of that offer here.
