Use Accor ‘Le Club’ Status To Get FREE UPGRADES With Other Hotel Chains

My colleagues here at InsideFlyer have done a fantastic job explaining how you can use elite status with one hotel loyalty programme to get elite status with many others. In fact, Joe showed how at one point you could get elite status with about 10 hotel chains for free, without ever even spending a night in a hotel!

Many readers will have Gold or Platinum status with Accor ‘Le Club’ – either from holding the Amex Platinum Card (Accor Platinum status is no longer a perk, but if you already have status you will keep it to the end of 2017), or as a result of Accor’s generous promotions.

You can, of course, use that status to match to elite levels in other programmes as described in the posts linked to above, but there is also a couple of new options for Accor elites.

Accor Hotels Group acquired the Fairmont, Raffles and Swissotel hotels parent company FRHI a while ago, but there hasn’t really been much progress in terms of integration – until very recently. Accor ‘Le Club’ Gold and Platinum members can now go to this page here and sign up for perks at Fairmont and Swissotel hotels, including two free room upgrades with each brand.

  • Two Advantage Award Certificates – exclusive to you for enrolling through this offer. Each Award Certificate can be used for either a two night upgrade or two complimentary breakfasts per stay.
  • Dedicated check-in counter
  • Personalized room preferences
  • Daily newspaper delivery
  • Complimentary access to Spa & Sport facilities
  • Complimentary Business internet access

The perks offered are hardly earth-shattering, but are certainly better than nothing.

Fairmont in particular has some superb hotels, like The Savoy in London and The Plaza in New York, so if luxury hotels are your thing (bit pricey for me!!!) there’s some real value to be had here.

Interestingly, at no point in the the signup process was I actually asked for my Accor account number, so even if you don’t have Accor status it might still be worth signing up. The free upgrade Award Certificates were in my account immediately after joining and don’t expire for 12 months.

      Hi,

Not officially as far as I can see. You could drop Fairmont a line and see if they’ll add some upgrade certs for you as a courtesy, or set up a new account with a new email address or for your partner etc.
