There’s a Marriott promotion running right now that might be of interest – even you are not not normally drawn to Marriott hotels.
The promo consists of two elements:
- Register and you are in with a chance of winning one of 100 prizes of 100,000 Marriott points. That’s good for 4 nights in the Waltham Abbey Marriott, for example.
- In conjunction with this, you are automatically registered for a bonus points promo, which gives you 2000 bonus Marriott points per paid stay, on the 2nd and subsequent stays.
Each stay also gets you another entry into the 100,000 Points sweepstakes.
This promo runs until the 5th of September.
So if you have a few Marriott stays coming up, registering for the promo will get you extra points. But even if you don’t see yourself stepping into a Marriott property anytime soon, take a few moments to register for the promo and you’ll be in the draw for those 100,000 points prizes anyway!
You can register here. If you’re not already a Marriott Rewards member, you can sign up through this link and earn a free night (at a Category 1-5 hotel) after your first two paid stays.

OT:
Just been sent an email from AA advantage offering a bonus when buying miles. Is this rate worth an article incorporating the ways of bagging biz/first class flights using miles on Etihad?
Joe Deeney says
Hi Adam,
Cheers, yeah we’ve got a couple of AA articles, including this, coming up in the next couple of days. I’m working on a ‘best redemptions’ series too but it’s a pretty big task so might be a while!
Adam says
Great, also there is an SPG promo bonus miles offer on at present which may be worth a look to see if any value to transfer over to AA with the extra 5k on transfers of 20k and the bonus offer on top.
Joe Deeney says
Ah, you’re too far ahead of the game Adam – see tomorrow’s post!
Re the shopping portal, just put any old zip code in (I think I chose the Waldorf Astoria in NYC!) and it works fine. Before Quidco started offering IHG cashback I put all my IHG bookings through there and got loads of Miles. Hotel bookings are particularly good for triggering any bonus miles for spending x offers they have too because I don’t actually spend that much on ‘stuff’ but do stay at hotels a lot. I’m not sure I’ve ever bought anything else through it actually, but I don’t see why it would be any different!
Ian Macky says
AA do these offers very regularly. On this current offer :-https://buymiles.aa.com/en/buygift
…the top bonus works out at 55% more miles, but I’ve seen more generous ones than this. If you were to buy enough miles for a LHR-AUH return (85K AA miles), It would cost $1850, around £1430. Which isn’t at cheap, when you consider you’ll still have to paid UK APD and some taxes on top.
There is an article coming up tomorrow that is relevant to AA miles, so what this space.

As a lapsed Marriott Gold member, I had changed my earnings to Miles on the off chance that I made a Marriott stay. I didn’t have enough points to use or convert, and a single stay wasn’t going to help.
Note that this promotion does not work if you are set to earn miles.
Simply change your preference in the profile.

Hi charles,
Thanks for that info, might be useful to others

Just signed up to AA advantage today to get started on my quest for Etihad biz/first seats via AA. In *the UK are you able to use the eshopping portal?
I tried signng up but it looks like they only accepy US postcodes.
Ian Macky says
Adam, I’ve never used the AA portal, however in the comments section of my AA article from last week, Joe indicated that you could use it.
