Hopefully your Iberia Plus account is already set to a Spanish address. If so, you can participate in Iberia Plus’ latest partner challenge. (no registration is required)

During the month of October 2020, you can earn bonus Avios by earning Avios from any of 17 specific partners. You can earn:

• 2 partners –> 200 bonus Avios
• 3 partners –> 300 bonus Avios
• 4 partners –> 500 bonus Avios
• 5 partners –> 1,000 bonus Avios
• 6 partners –> 2,000 bonus Avios
• 7 partners –> 5,000 bonus Avios

For the avoidance of doubt, these are NOT cumulative. If you only manage 5 partners, you will earn 1,000 bonus Avios in total. Unfortunately, only 17 specific Iberia Plus partners qualify. These are:

But many others can be picked up from the comforts of your home, or at the very least in the UK or wherever you might be travelling. Some Ideas for Collecting Partners

American Express

If you have the Gold card and a Membership Rewards balance, you can transfer 1,000 points –> 1,000 Avios.  That’s partner 1…

E-Rewards

If you have at least 2,000 points from completing surveys, you can convert those to 750 Avios. That’s partner 2…

Marriott Bonvoy

If you have at least 3,000 points with Marriott Bonvoy,  you can transfer those to Iberia Plus at a 3:1 ratio –> receiving 1,000 Avios. That’s an easy way to pick up partner 3…

IberiaPlu Store

If you ever participated in the Groupon “cheap Avios” promotions, you have probably used the IberiaPluStore before. Head to Iberia’s website, set your country preference to Spain and then you’ll be able to jump to the online shopping portal (clicking here may or may not work). Many of the IberiaPluStore merchants would want to ship you something within Spain only, so your best bet might be to buy a cheap service from Groupon…

Booking.com

If you require a hotel night during the month of October, you can book via the Iberia hotels / Booking.com partnership. If you would rather pick up 1 Avios and another partner by prepaying for a 1 euro hotel room you won’t be using, you could look around India, Thailand, Bali, etc. for cheap options… In my experience, as long as you have prepaid, nobody at Booking.com will take away your Avios if you don’t actually show up… That should be partner 5…

The Bottom Line

I’ve given you five possible partners that don’t even require leaving your home/office. Fewer readers will have Melia Rewards or Accor Live Limitless points hanging around waiting to be transferred to Iberia Plus, but those are easy options as well. Otherwise you could rent a car or two from Avis and Budget or go shopping at the outlet village…  For 5,000 Avios it might just be worth it…
