IHG PointBreaks Q1 2018 – Further Locations Revealed

So it seems that IHG has taken over round here at InsideFlyer UK this week, but PointBreaks has historically been one of the best hotel points offers out there, so it’s worth sharing the latest news.

This quarter’s Pointbreaks list is even more interesting, given IHG’s new approach of tiered pricing of 5k, 10k and 15k as discussed by Craig. Personally I feel this is a positive step, the 5k properties were becoming more and more obscure rather than places you might actually want to go as a tourist. The higher points tiers may open up some interesting options for hotels you’d never see at the 5k level, which I think is better than having loads of cheap hotels I’d never want/need to visit!

Holiday Inn Nola – Naples Vulcano Buono

This afternoon IHG updated their blog with a larger preview list of properties that will go live for booking from 12pm EST on Monday 29th Jan (so around 5pm UK time). This year they are keeping most properties under wraps until the day but here are some of the new ones I find most interesting from the latest list:

5,000 Points:

Holiday Inn Panama Canal

Holiday Inn Nola – Naples Vulcano Buono

10,000 Points:

Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali

Crowne Plaza Belgrade

15,000 Points:

ANA Crowne Plaza Hiroshima

Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi

InterContinental Kiev

Once bookable, you will be able to find the full list by clicking here.

Anything on the list take your fancy?

Put in some sample dates for the CP Hiroshima, the rooms they offer for points are small rooms intended for one person, and the cash rate averaged £60 a night. It’s poor value at 15k points, and madness at 30k. Kiev currently looking like the best value redemption, it’ll be interesting to see all 200 hotels on Monday.
