50%+ Rebate on Hotels Stays by Stacking Club Carlson Deals!

Historically, Club Carlson (the loyalty programme for Radisson Blu, Park Plaza, Park Inn, etc) has offered very generous promotions. That generosity got reined in quite a bit over the last year or two, but by carefully stacking Club Carlson deals you can currently get a fantastic rebate back on stays before the end of the June.

Getting a return of over 50% back in Points and cashback is possible, so if you have got any last minute stays coming up in the next week and a half, Club Carlson is definitely worth checking out.

Deal 1: Triple Points + 5k Bonus

For stays until 30th June 2017, Club Carlson members will receive triple Points + an additional 5,000 Points per night for Sundays and Mondays. You need to register here.

This is a good deal by itself, particularly for Sundays and Mondays. Let’s crunch the numbers a bit to see why:

We value Club Carlson Goldpoints as being worth 0.3-0.4p each, but we’ll use the conservative 0.3p valuation here.

Club Carlson members without elite status earn 20 Points per $1, so that’s 60 Points per $1 with the triple Points bonus.

To keep the maths neat, let’s say a one night stay costs $100 (~£79). That would yield 6,000 Goldpoints, or 11,000 on a Sunday/Monday night. That works out as getting back roughly £18 or £33 worth of Points back, which is a very solid start.

Deal 2: Dream Deals

‘Dream Deals’ is a Club Carlson promotion that offers members 30% off + 2,500 bonus Points per stay at 350 hotels in 200 destinations for stays until 3rd September 2017. You need to book here by 25th June 2017.

I’m not going to factor the 30% discount in these calculations, even though Dream Deals rates usually are very good, and sometimes even include breakfast too.

The 2,500 bonus Points are worth ~£7.50.

Cashback

TopCashback is currently offering between 6.3%-9% cashback for Club Carlson stays depending on the precise hotel brand and (sometimes) how much you spend.

For cheap stays, you might be better off forfeiting the cashback and making an app booking instead for 3,000 additional Club Carlson Goldpoints. 3,000 Points are worth about £9, but you’ll have to do your own calculations to work out whether cashback or the extra Points is the best option for you on any particular stay.

Bonus cashback

TopCashback is offering Insideflyer readers an exclusive bonus £1 for making any transaction at all through TopCashback before 25th June 2017.

All you have to do is activate the offer here and then shop through TopCashback as normal. You can read the full details about the offer here.

TopCashback is also gifting all new members who sign up through this link an additional £10 bonus too.

All you have to do is spend at least £10 with any retailer, which if you’re booking a hotel, isn’t going to be a problem.

Remember that you can transfer TopCashback credit to British Airways Avios at rate of £1 : 105 Avios.

Put in all together!

The new Park Plaza London Park Royal gets good reviews and has some very good rates in the Dream Deals sale – eg. £69 including breakfast next Sunday.

TopCashback is offering 7.35% for Park Plaza stays, so that would be about £5 in this example, meaning you would be better off sticking to the 3,000 Point app bonus.

£69.00 is roughly $88 USD, so you would earn 5,280 Points, 5,000 bonus Points because it’s a Sunday night, plus 3,000 app bonus Points =13,280 Goldpoints.

Using the (conservative) 0.3p per Point valuation, that works out as a rebate of ~ £39.80, or over 57.5%!

Looking at it another way, you would effectively be getting a decent hotel in London for ~ £29.20 if you value the Points rebate as cash.

Bottom line

Stacking Club Carlson deals together can lead to some superb savings if you’ve got a stay coming up before the end of the month.

Has anybody found any other standout bargains in the Dream Deals sale yet?
