The likes of Topcashback, Gate365, ShopsAway etc mean that it it not unusual to earn bonus cashback or air miles on online spend. However, you will generally find that “at the shop” spend will get you the standard points/miles via your credit card, but there will be nothing on top of that.
However, this position is changing. The Topcashback “OnCard” and Quidco “High Street” options are a good starting point, while another offer worth flagging is the current (and seemingly ongoing) offer from Pizza Express and Avios, where you will earn up to 6 Avios per £1 spent at Pizza Express.
To benefit from this offer, you need to:
- download the “Bink” app (Avios’ “trusted mobile partner”) and create an account (the iphone app is here, the Android app is here)
- add your payment cards to your Bink account
- link your payment cards to your Avios membership number on the Bink app.
You then simply use the added payment card at PizzaExpress and the Avios will be credited to your account automatically.
What are the Avios earning rates?
3 Avios per £1 spent on Friday and Saturday
6 Avios per £1 spent from Sunday to Thursday
As an aside, it may be worth keeping an eye on Bink, given the potential to earn “offline Avios” and other airmiles with other retailers.
Yep – before you go to Pizza Express, make sure you check this page for any discounts available at your local Pizza Express.
Bear in mind that £2.50 in Tesco Clubcard vouchers (an essential tool for any “savvy traveller”) gets you £10 in Pizza Express vouchers too, so while this will seriously deprive you of Avios (you’ll lose them on the Pizza Express spend as that will be with vouchers, and you’ll lose the 600 Avios each £2.50 would otherwise have got you) this may be an option well worth considering if you like your “gourmet” pizza.
