This post is part of my new project creating a (rather terribly named) ‘Travel Hacking Toolkit’. One question that crops up quite often, is which short-haul British Airways destinations earn 80 Tier Points each way in Business Class (Club Europe) – 160 Tier Points per Return.
A few weekends away flying Club Europe can be a great way to rack up some relatively cheap Tier Points to help you qualify for British Airways elite status,
Remember that Silver status only requires 600 Tier Points (Gold status is 1,500 Tier Points), so just four Returns each year to the destinations below is sufficient.
London Heathrow Airport:
- Athens
- Helsinki
- Istanbul
- Mykonos
- Santorini
- Kiev
- Kos
- Larnaca (Cyprus)
- St Petersburg,
- Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)
- Bucharest
- Sofia
London Gatwick Airport:
- Lanzarote
- Algiers
- Bodrum
- Dalaman
- Fuerteventura
- Heraklion (Crete)
- Larnaca
- Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)
- Malta
- Paphos (Cyprus)
- Thessaloniki
- Marrakesh
- Rhodes
- Tenerife
- Tirana
London City Airport:
- Mykonos
- Santorini
You can also earn 80 British Airways Tier Points each way in Business Class on the Finnair flight between Manchester and Helsinki.
Malta tends to be the standout bargain, and it also happens to be a great place for a short break. I wouldn’t recommend it in peak summer, but pretty much any other time of year the weather is lovely, accommodation is very reasonably priced, and it really is a fascinating place.
When British Airways boosted their ‘part pay with Avios’ offer earlier in the year, it was possible to have four trips to Malta and earn Silver status for as little as £285.00!
For the full list of how many Tier Points every British Airways flight earns check out my table here.
As ever with these posts, if you spot any errors or omissions just let me know and I’ll get it fixed – cheers!

Could you outline what are the benefits of each different tier, i know of lounge access, extra luggage, free reserved seats but apart from those i m not sure on what benefits of tiers involve.

I’ll put a quick post together next week actually – it’s something that could be useful I think.
