On top of its double Hilton HHonors points offer and Global Summer Sale, Hilton has just launched another promotion. This time it’s in conjunction with BA Executive Club, and until 31 August you’ll get up to quadruple Avios when you select BA as your earning partner at Hilton hotels.

The promotion is quite simple, and works as follows:

• Select British Airways as your Preferred Airline Partner on your Hilton profile;
• Select Points & Miles as your Double Dip Earning Style within your HHonors profile; and
• Register for the promotion here.

You will then earn:

• Double Avios for your first stay before 31 August;
• Triple Avios for your second stay before 31 August; and
• Quadruple Avios for your third, and any subsequent stays, before 31 August.

But hang on – you told me I should avoid this…

I did, and with good reason. Quite simply, Iberia Plus is also running a quadruple points offer, and given that i) you earn 1.5 Avios with Iberia Plus per $1 spent at Hilton, compared to just 1 Avios with BA and ii) you can easily transfer your Avios between your Iberia Plus and BA Executive Club accounts using the “Combine My Avios” function*, then there is no obvious reason why you would take the less generous BA offer.

The only exception to this is if you are spending over $1000 0n your Hilton stay – as Iberia Plus Avios earnings are capped at 1000 per stay (BA Avios are capped at 10,000).

Does this offer stack with the Hilton double points offer?

Yes, and therefore the maths is as follows:

The double Hilton Points offer will double your base Hilton points of 10 per $1 spent, whether you choose ‘Points and Points’ (10 base points plus 5 bonus points per $1 spent) or ‘Points and Miles’ (10 base points plus, generally speaking, 1 mile per $1 spent (although Iberia Plus is actually 1.5 miles per $1 spent)).

As has happened with similar offers in the past, the BA bonus Avios offer will stack with the Hilton double points offer, so you need to decide whether you want:

• Points and Points: Giving you 20 Hilton HHonors points plus 5 bonus points per $1 spent
• Points and Miles: Giving you 20 Hilton HHonors points plus 2/3/4 Avios per $1 spent

 

*Your Iberia Plus account will need to be a minimum of 90 days old, however.
