Qatar Airways has recently opened three new lounges at its home base in Doha. The airline wants to increase capacity, particularly in light of  the upcoming World Cup being held in Qatar at the end of this year. These are in addition to the the existing Al Mourjan Business Class Lounge and Al Safwa First Class Lounge .

The new lounges are open to Qatar Airways Privilege Club, Silver, Gold and Platinum members, as well as Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members. This is a welcome addition, as up until now, Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members have only had access to the Oryx Lounge.

First class passengers will continue to have access to the Al Safwa Lounge, while the Al Mourjan Lounge is aimed at Qatar’s Business Class passengers.

Oneworld Emerald members now have access to the new Platinum Lounge, located at the A gates. This lounge has a capacity for 140 people and has a restaurant, bar and showers. It can be accessed regardless of which cabin you are flying in.

The Gold Lounge, also at the A Gates, is for Privilege Club Gold members and Oneworld Sapphire members – again regardless of which class you are flying in. The lounge has space for 85 passengers and also has a bar, restaurant and showers.

The Silver Lounge, opened in March 2022 can be found at the B Gates and can be accessed by Privilege Club Silver members, but not Oneworld Ruby members. This lounge holds 195 passengers and has a meeting room in addition to the standard facilities.

Conclusion

More lounges are certainly a welcome addition to Doha – especially opening them up to Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members. It will be interesting to see how these new facilities go down with the huge number of visitors descending on Qatar for the World Cup at the end of the year.
