Marriott Bonvoy has launched another sale on points. Unfortunately, Marriott has decided to offer a “mystery bonus” – each member receives a targeted bonus.

The sale will run until 15th July 2022.

Does it Make Sense?

The regular price of a Marriott point is 1p (1.25 cents). Depending on your bonus, you could be paying:

• 55% bonus –> 0.65p (0.81 cents)
• 50% bonus –> 0.66p (0.83 cents)
• 45% bonus –> 0.69p (0.86 cents)

If you are redeeming points at expensive hotels using Marriott’s fifth night free award pricing, you can often end up with a bargain by buying points (instead of paying cash). You might also find that buying points is a cost-effective method of buying airline miles, since 60,000 Marriott points will convert into 25,000 miles in a large number of frequent flyer programmes.

But, as always, you probably should NOT make a speculative purchase of points without having a very good plan for using them well…
