Thanks to Park Plaza’s excellent ‘Merlin’ promotion, you can currently book 4* hotels in London from as little as £55.90 per night, and receive additional perks on top. The best thing is that these rates are very flexible – you don’t even need to pay a deposit.

“Book a stay at any of our London hotels and enjoy up to 35%* off our Best Flexible Rates, PLUS an exclusive 2 for 1 offer at some of London’s top attractions! What’s more, our exclusive offer is fully cancellable up until 24 hours before arrival, kid’s eat for free* and you get access to our indoor swimming pools where applicable.

Simply make your booking, and we will automatically send you the link to claim your 2 for 1 tickets at any of the below Merlin attractions, including: The lastminute.com London EyeThe London DungeonShrek’s Adventure! LondonSEA LIFE London Aquarium and Madame Tussauds London.”

You can book between now and 31st December 2021, for stays all the way through to 31st December 2021.

As you can see above, the basic idea is that Radisson Rewards members (sign up here for free) receive 35% off the Best Flex rate, as well as 2 for 1 tickets to a range of popular London attractions. In addition, kids eat free when dining with a full-paying adult.

I’m a big fan of the fact that no pre-payment is required, and bookings can be cancelled without penalty up until 24 hours before the stay. That gives you a huge amount of flexibility if you want to ‘lock in’ some dates, but aren’t sure yet if you will be able to travel.

The deals…

Park Plaza London Park Royal from £55.90 per night:

Park Royal might not be located in the beating heart of central London, but the Park Plaza there is right next to a tube station. If you don’t mind 25-30 minutes on the tube to save some cash, this is a great budget-friendly option.

Park Plaza Victoria from £104.65 per night:

Park Plaza Riverbank from £104.65 per night:

A personal favourite – don’t forget to ask about upgrading to a balcony suite!

Park Plaza County Hall from £120.90 per night:

You can also use the discounted rate at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, Park Plaza Waterloo, and the Holmes Hotel, but the prices tended to be a little higher on the dates I looked at.

The prices may actually be better than they first appear…

For all the dates I checked, these promotional rates match the lowest rates currently available on the Radisson Rewards website (and you’re getting the additional perks on top). However, unless you are signed into your Radisson account, the rates might initially appear higher than they actually are…

For example, when I did a search for London on Friday 11th June, the Park Plaza Victoria comes up on the general results page at £139.20 – and states that this is the “Member Only Rate”:

When you click through though, you can see that the actual Members Only Rate is £113.10:

The first rate listed is, in fact, the non-members rate.

The glitch is resolved simply by signing into your account before searching, but it is something to be aware of, because otherwise you might think prices are ~20% higher than they are in reality…

Bottom line

In the past, I’ve regularly redeemed 70,000 Radisson Rewards Points to stay at some of the central London Park Plaza hotels, and always felt I got a decent deal. I value those points at between £200-£250, so to be able to book a flexible cash rate for not much more than £100, is a fantastic offer. Families, in particular, might well appreciate the extra perks available too.

The really key point here though, is that you can make as many bookings as you want with no risk, because prepayment isn’t required (which it usually is for discounted rates). If your plans change, it only takes 30 seconds to cancel online. If prices go down nearer the time, or you find a better deal elsewhere, again just cancel and rebook.

I have a feeling that post-lockdown London might be a huge amount of fun this summer, so would recommend having a quick look at the sale now and maybe locking in a few dates.
