In case you missed out last night, remember that Qatar Airways is offering 100,000 complimentary tickets to  “frontline healthcare professionals” all over the world this week – and the latest batch for UK health workers went live at 22:00 (12th May 2020)

“Thank you to all of the frontline healthcare professionals across the globe. Your tremendous efforts and incredible resilience have given us hope in these times of uncertainty.

In recognition of your hard work and dedication, we are offering 100,000 complimentary tickets on Qatar Airways flights. As a healthcare professional, you are entitled to the following benefits*:

  • Up to two complimentary return Economy Class tickets for yourself and a companion, so you can take a well-deserved holiday to a destination of your choice within our network
  • Receive 35% off at Qatar Duty Free outlets at our state-of-the-art hub, Hamad International Airport in Doha.”

The travel period is from 26 May to 10 December 2020 (last outbound travel).

This is a fantastic offer, so as you would expect there are some eligibility conditions:

  • “This promotional offer is strictly available to medical frontline professionals only. Eligible healthcare professions are limited to: Doctor, Medical practitioner, Nurse, Paramedic, Lab Technician, Clinical Researcher, Pharmacist.

  • It is mandatory to present the original medical identification at the airport check-in desk at the time of departure, and it must clearly state the occupation, as submitted on the offer registration form. No photograph or printed identification will be accepted.

  • Boarding will be denied, should any customer fail to provide the required original identification i.e. Medical licence/registration in additional to regular passport documents.

  • If the medical professional is not able to travel, then the companion will not be accepted at check-in to board the flight.

  • Qatar Airways reserves the right to cancel any booking without prior notice if false identification or fraudulent activity is suspected in the process.”

It’s also worth noting that both passengers have to be aged 12+ and that although there are no surcharges, passengers are still required to pay taxes (though that should be minimal).

Bottom line

Hat’s off to Qatar for this one. Many healthcare workers have gone through (and in many cases are still going through) hell trying to help everyone else. The idea of a free flight might not sound hugely important in the scheme of things, but anything that raises a smile and provides something to look forward to has got to be a good thing!

If you are eligible, you can register from 22:00 tonight (12th May 2020) on the Qatar website here.

Note that new batches will be made available at 22:00 all this week until 17th May.

Good luck (and thank you)!

      Hi Michael,

I’m very sorry to hear that.

It’s certainly not a scam (Qatar really is giving away 100,000 flights), but unfortunately it does seem that the popularity of the offer is causing some significant website issues for them and the daily code limit is being reached extremely quickly.

Sadly, the only advice I can offer is try again tomorrow and fingers crossed you might have better luck!

On a personal note – thank you so much for the work and sacrifice you and your colleagues are enduring to keep everyone else safe. It is more greatly appreciated than any written message, weekly applause, or free flight, could ever show.

It 110% is a publicity stunt. No bookable flights with the code. No help from booking team as must go online. They are not able to specify the dates available nor the routes available, you have to find them by trial and error. I have so far tried 15 separate routes and dates with no luck. So whilst not a scam as no doubt there are some possible flights, routes and dates but will be a needle in a haystack. it’s certainly a publicity stunt which is quite poor really and may as well have been a million flights
