As per its standard practice, World of Hyatt has provided almost no advance notice of its next promotion. “Bonus Journeys” will run from 15 February until 15 May, 2020.

The promotion is pretty straightforward. Members can earn Double Points on every stay, starting with your second stay. Only base point earning is doubled so, since members earn 5 base points per US dollar spent, you would earn an additional 5 points per US dollar spent. Based on my valuation of a Hyatt point, you’d be earning an extra 8-9% rebate.

Apart from that silly “starting with your second stay” element, there appears to be little else to worry about. All Hyatt brands, including those MLife and Small Luxury Hotels that participate in World of Hyatt, qualify for the bonus.

As a reminder, Hyatt will be implementing a peak / off-peak award calendar in March 2020. The exact date has yet to be announced, but the new award chart will look like this:

Double point promotions such as this one are great for members who stay in expensive hotels (preferably using Other People’s Money!). I would have much preferred a “per night” bonus, as I have a few Hyatt award nights upcoming. Not to be… unfortunately… 🙁
