Ryanair is certainly a big airline, but you might not have realised just how big it is these days… In 2019, the airline set another record, flying over 152 million passengers!
The Ryanair Group consists of Ryanair itself and its little brother Lauda. In total, it flew 152.4 million passengers in 2019.
2019 | 2020 (LF) | Growth | |
---|---|---|---|
Ryanair Group | 10.3m | 11.2m (95%) | + 9% |
Ryanair | 10.0m | 10.7m (95%) | + 7% |
Lauda | 0.3m | 0.5m (95%) | + 67% |
Rolling Annual | 140.2m | 152.4m (96%) | + 9% |
That is a 9% increase over the previous year, when it had 140.2 million passengers.
Lauda had a particularly impressive year in terms of passenger numbers (admittedly from a much lower base!) – up 67%, from 300,000 to 500,000.
Ryanair has no shortage of critics (including some here at InsideFlyer!), but its ability to fill planes is unarguably impressive, with consistent load factors between 95%-97% last year.
It will be interesting to see if Ryanair is able to maintain similar levels of growth in 2020…
