Hilton’s Summer Sale for hotels in Europe, Middle East and Africa continues to offer up to 30% off a vast number of hotels.
The sale ends on 19 August 2019, so you’ve still got plenty of time to take advantage of it. You need to stay by 6 January 2020 and while, technically, the sale applies to weekend stays only, you’re likely to find plenty of discounts throughout the week.
So what’s available?
Our standard, responsibility-abdicating advice here is generally “have a good look yourself”.
That’s not down to laziness, but rather the vast array of destinations, hotels and dates (with their varying prices) available. The fact is that a thorough search is very likely to identify a hotel that will suit you, at 30% less, or at the very least with a solid discount.
That said, discounted rates include the following:
City breaks
- London at 30% off
- Paris at 30% off
- Amsterdam at 30% off
- Venice at 30% off
- Istanbul at 25% off
Middle Eastern Gems
- Abu Dhabi at 30% off
- Riyadh at 30% off
- Dubai at 30% off
- Doha at 30% off
- Ras Al Khaimah at 25% off
- Jordan at 25% off
- Jeddah at 20% off
Exotic Luxury
- Mauritius at 30% off
- Cape Town at 30% off
- Algarve at 25% off
- Seychelles at 20% off
So, plenty of options, plenty of dates and most importantly, plenty of discounts. Have a good look and remember that the sale rates apply to stays all the way through to January 2020, so this is a great opportunity to lock in an advance lower price, further discounted by the sale, for your summer break this year.
Cheap hotel rates = cheap elite status
Hilton Honors is also offering a short-cut to elite Gold and Diamond status, if you already have elite status with a competitor:
If approved, Honors members will enjoy their matched status for a period of exactly 90 days. This can be extended until 31 March, 2021 by completing:
- 4 stays for Gold status
- 8 stays for Diamond status
Note that these need to be separate stays, not just 4 or 8 nights.
The process of requesting a status challenge is simple. You must fill in the online form with your first name, last name, email address, Honors account number, and the status you’re hoping to match. You must also upload proof of your competing status, as well as proof of a stay within the past 12 months with that hotel chain.
It’s also worth mentioning that stays booked with Hilton Honors Points count towards the status challenge targets too, so if the cash rates look a bit pricey for the hotel you want to book, it might make sense to buy Hilton Points and use them instead. There’s a 100% bonus on offer until 4th July 2019, which effectively cuts the normal price for Hilton Points in half.
Bottom line
Combining discounted hotel stays with a status challenge can be a great way to enjoy a few nice little summer breaks and earn elite status (all the way through to 2021!) at the same time.

I’m sure the Portuguese tourist board is very happy with the description of the Algarve as ‘Exotic Luxury’!

haha – fair. 🙂

Hi Joe
After successful status match to Diamond- will it revert to Gold? I have Diamond status until March 2020- what does one do when it finishes- earn more ‘nights’ in conventional way?
Cheers
Craig Sowerby says
Unfortunately not. It reverts to whatever level you qualify for this year. You’d need 20 stays or 40 nights for Gold. 30/60 to stay Diamond.
Sadly, a couple of years ago I crashed from Diamond to Silver so there aren’t any “soft landings” I’m aware of.
