Marriott Bonvoy has released a promotion covering the summer period. It sounds very lucrative from the promotion name, doesn’t it? It’s certainly a simple concept, with 1,500 bonus points on every stay of at least two nights. As a welcome departure from previous Marriott promotions, this applies from your first stay.

Promotion Period

The promotion covers all stays until September 16th. You have until September 2nd to register, but I’d suggest registering now anyway. Even if you have no Marriott stays planned, it’s there waiting in your account should anything come up.

Is it worthwhile?

If you were staying in Marriott properties anyway, it is a literal bonus. Would I switch a lengthy/costly stay away from a Hilton (with double points promo)? Almost certainly not, but for a two night, low cost stay 1,500 Marriott Bonvoy points would be a welcome extra.

Once registered, you get a lovely progress bar in the promotions section of your Marriott Bonvoy account.

Don’t forget that Marriott Bonvoy points can be used for more than just Marriott hotel stays, and with reasonable value in many cases.

They can be moved to a number of airline mileage schemes at a rate of 3:1, with 5,000 bonus miles when moving 60,000 points. You can also use them for Marriott Moments, covering a number of culinary, music and sporting events as well as travel packages which offer bundles of hotel stays and airline miles.

Registration of your Marriott Bonvoy™ account is required. Marriott Bonvoy members who register for this promotion by September 2, 2019, will earn 1,500 bonus points per stay on stays of two or more nights, starting with their first stay, during the promotion earning period. The promotion earning period is for stays between July 2, 2019, and September 16, 2019, at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties. A “stay” is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/checkout activity on any points-eligible rate (“Qualifying Rate”). Rates available through most third-party online retailers and select travel agency rates do not qualify for this promotion. The member receiving this offer has been targeted and the offer is not transferable. Homes & Villas by Marriott International, ExecuStay®, Marriott Executive Apartments® and Marriott Vacation Club® owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for bonus points, and nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for bonus points. Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay. A member who elects to earn miles is not eligible for this promotion.
