It’s back with a twist! – Regular readers will remember that Lufthansa has run a number of promotions over the last year offering bonus miles for hotel stays booked through the Miles & More Hotels portal. We have covered previous versions here, here and here.
The booking portal was down for a while due to ‘technical issues’ but has now re-launched in cooperation with points.com. To tempt you back, Miles & More is offering double miles.
The bad news is that you will earn double miles ONCE only. The good news is that even those who bagged the generous bonuses from previous promos, are eligible for this one (whereas the previous offers were limited to first-time bookers…).
Here are the details:
- Book by 31 August. You can stay anytime.
- You have to book via https://milesandmore.points.com/august2018 to bag the double miles.
Bottom line – is it worth it?
It depends. These are third-party bookings so you will not receive status benefits or points in the hotel’s own loyalty scheme.
If you are booking a non-chain property, or with a chain you don’t usually stay at, it could be worth it. Shop around first though to make sure the rate is genuinely competitive. I’ve come across the following option as I was looking for hotels in Zanzibar for an upcoming trip. 11,450 Miles & More points sounds like a decent enough rebate on the room rate…
Terms
• Promotional and booking Period: 1 to 31 August 2018. Your hotel stay is not limited to the booking period.

• Within this promotion you earn a one-off double miles on your next hotel booking.

Note that you WOULD have received status benefits for third party bookings at Marriott, but that is being phased out in the new combined programme from August 18, so act quickly if you still want to take advantage of this!
