Why the Hilton Summer Sale is Even Better Value Than You Think…

We recently flagged the good value currently available at Hilton hotels throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa via the Summer Sale.

It’s a deal well worth looking at.

The better value…

However, you know us at InsideFlyer – one deal is rarely good enough, we love to stack! With that in mind, an excellent deal stacking opportunity is available with Hilton at the moment. Not only can you get discounted hotel stays in the Summer Sale, you can also get double Hilton Honors points on the stay, provided that it is before 31 August.

Of course, you will be able to take advantage of whatever promo Hilton Honors runs if you stay from 1 September to 7 October 2018 (when stays for this Summer Sale must be completed by). We just don’t yet know that offer is!

Double Honors Points offers a very solid additional rebate on your stay. Unlike many airline miles, I see hotel points as a fantastic loyalty point option: they generally offer wide availability, reasonable redemption rates and don’t come with additional tax or miscellaneous charges (assuming you avoid Vegas…)

Are these extra points worth much?

Yes. I absolutely love Hilton Honors Points. They’re incredibly easy to redeem, extremely flexible (with free cancellation) and reward stays count towards Hilton Honors status.

I roughly value Hilton Honors points at 0.3p-0.4p each, and you can work out how many you’ll get on your stay using the Hilton Honors Points Calculator. For the double points offer, make sure you double the base points the calculator states you will earn!

Slightly off topic, but I went through to the Hilton Honors site via the points calculator link (the calc page didn’t work BTW). Following the withdrawal of the Barclaycard Visa card, I thought I’d check to see whether any updated UK offerings were shown in the earning points via credit card section. There’s now no mention of the UK at all – until recently it showed the Barclaycard (although it was a dead link). Has anyone heard a) whether the Barclaycard scheme is going to be ended at some point for existing holders who use it to get silver or gold status and b) if there’s any other offerings in the pipeline?

If you wanted Hilton status, your only options via cards are via the Amex Platinum as far as I know?

IHG premium credit card give you platinum status, you can then do a status match at HH for Gold or Diamond status. Amex platinum card has a higher fee of £ 450.
