The latest list of discount redemption routes from Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, ‘Spontaneous Escapes’, has been released and has some cracking deals this time!

The current batch are for travel between 1st-31st July 2018 and have to be booked by 30th June 2018. There are a large range of Economy and Business Class routes available this time with 30% off the Miles required.

From a UK perspective, the obvious highlights are the European routes between Singapore and Frankfurt or Dusseldorf, available for 59,500 KrisFlyer Miles in Business Class one way. You usually need 85,000 Miles, so that’s a chunky reduction.

59,500 KrisFlyer Miles (with no surcharges!) for a ~13 hour flight in one of the best Business Class cabins in the sky is a great deal.

This time, there is also a 30% reduction for Economy redemptions too – now requiring just 26,600 Miles one way to/from Singapore.

Remember that there are no ‘surcharges’ anymore when redeeming KrisFlyer Miles for Singapore Airlines or SilkAir flights, so the only extra you’ll have to pay is a small amount of tax and mandatory airport fees.

To find the discounted rates, just login to your your KrisFlyer account and search for award flights like normal. You’ll actually see the standard pricing to begin with when searching, but don’t let that put you off. The discount only shows up when you select a flight:

There is also some excellent value available between Singapore and lots of other places too, which you can check out here. Business Class between Singapore and the Indian subcontinent for 24,500 Miles is great, as is 22,750 Miles for Business Class between Singapore and Perth in Australia.

My personal favourite this time though is Business Class between Singapore and Johannesburg for just 31,500 KrisFlyer Miles – that’s a 10+ hour flight!

Obviously, it’s not the most convenient route in the world for UK based travellers, but if you could work it into a ‘big’ (possibly round the world) trip, it might work very nicely for getting between Africa and Asia.

Bottom line

I really like the Spontaneous Escapes promotion. KrisFlyer is a pretty good programme anyway (apart from the hard expiry policy!!!), so being able to save 30% on top is excellent.
