I posted a little earlier about the latest Biz Class bargains to Asia available in the Qatar Airways Valentines sale. There are also some truly superb Business Class fares to Australia included in the sale too!

The dates for these ones look to be between September – mid December 2018, and once again you need to book for 2 people to get the lowest fares.

Note that you need to search for a multi-city ticket from Oslo, but coming back to Stockholm to get these prices!

Oslo – Sydney – Stockholm: ~£1,325 per person

Oslo – Adelaide – Stockholm: ~£1,330 per person

Oslo – Melbourne – Stockholm: ~£1,625 per person

Availability at the lowest fares to Adelaide looks good, but Sydney and Melbourne seem to be getting snapped up quickly so I wouldn’t wait long if you want to book (Melbourne has already gone up ~£300 from earlier)!

Where should I credit cheap Qatar Business Class flights?

As I mentioned in the post about the deals to Asia, these fares all book into fare class ‘R’, which means you should earn 100%-125% of flown miles, depending on the programme you decide to credit to.

For many readers, British Airways Executive Club (BAEC) will ikely be the best option for these particular flights. Although some of the other types of Miles available are more valuable than Avios, you’re not going to miss out on a huge additional haul here, and the real beauty of crediting cheap Qatar Business Class flights to BAEC is the amount of status ‘Tier Points’ you rack up.

The flights to Sydney and back , for example, would earn each passenger ~26,500 Avios and 600 Tier Points –  enough for BAEC Silver status.

JAL Mileage Bank could also be a good option if prefer more ‘exotic’ Miles.

Is Qatar Airways Business Class any good?

Superb. You can read some reviews over at InsideFlyer Germany (just use Google translate):

With Qatar Airways you have the chance to enjoy some of the best Business Class seats in the sky. On board the Airbus A380, the A350 and the Boeing 787, you will find a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone configuration.

There is also now the incredible QSuites too on some routes!

The Boeing 777 has a 2-2-2 configuration with lie flat seats, as do most Airbus A330s. However, on a small number of Airbus A330-200s you will find seats that are not completely flat.

Bottom line

These Business Class fares to Australia are excellent. Anyone tempted?

Couldn’t seem to access these fares originating in Sydney. Do you know if the special can be booked when you leave from Sydney?

      Hi Lesley,

Unfortunately, I doubt it – airline pricing is almost always different going in one direction rather than the other. 🙁

Hi Joe looking to go to Australia Jan 2020 for 3 weeks. Looking at business class. What’s the cheapest way and am I best booking return? Is there a benefit by going from London when Manchester is closest. And is it cheaper to fly into Sydney.

    • Joe Deeney says

      Hi Karen,

Yes, definitely best booking a return.

I would suggest looking at flights from other parts of Europe actually for the cheapest fares. Scandinavia in particular often has (relatively) very good fares on Qatar and other good airlines. Getting a cheap flight from the UK to/from other parts of Europe (and even factoring in paying for a hotel overnight) can save you a lot of money!
