One of the key ingredients to maximising your travel while minimising your costs, is to stack deals together whenever possible – even if they sometimes sound a bit unlikely. As an example, I was looking at some some Virgin flights today and realised that you can, indirectly, earn Avios on Virgin Atlantic flights!

This sounds strange because Avios is the loyalty currency of British Airways, Virgin’s arch-enemy, but it is true nonetheless. The best thing is that you can still earn the full amount of Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles too – the Avios is just a bonus that comes from stacking deals.

How to earn Avios on Virgin Atlantic flights

It’s incredibly simple – when you want to book, just click through to the Virgin Atlantic site via the ‘traveller’s best friend’: TopCashback.

TopCashback allows you to earn cashback for purchasing Virgin Atlantic flights, and to then transfer your cashback to Avios at a rate of 105 Avios per £1.

The exact cashback rates available can vary, but at the time of writing the following offers were live:

£10.50 could be converted into 1,102 Avios, or you could just keep the cash instead of course!

That might not sound like much, but it only takes an extra 10 seconds to click through to Virgin via TopCashback, rather than just navigating there directly.

It’s also worth pointing out that a return flight booked with BA from Heathrow to Boston, for example, would only earn 1,634 Avios these days in Economy, so you wouldn’t even be really missing out on many Avios by booking with Virgin! Bottom line
