Has Virgin Atlantic Disappeared from Your List of E-Rewards Reward Options?

Just last week, Miles wrote about an opportunity to earn 500 free miles from Virgin Atlantic Flying Club for signing up to E-Rewards and completing a survey.

Many of us already have E-Rewards accounts, however, and perhaps 500 free miles isn’t quite enough incentive to open a separate E-Rewards account, especially since a unique mobile phone number – E-Rewards are cracking down on multiple accounts – is now required to request a reward payout.

So consider me confused when I reached 6,500 points and decided to convert them into 2,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles. But when I looked at my reward options, I could only see this:

No more Virgin Atlantic… even though just last week InsideFlyer UK wrote about them as a E-Rewards payout option. I suppose that only E-Rewards members who sign up with a direct referral from Virgin Atlantic will now be allowed to request a payout in the form of Virgin Atlantic miles.

Luckily Virgin miles aren’t the best use of E-Rewards points. You can read this post from earlier this year for my view on which options offer the highest value.

How about you? Are you an avid E-Rewards survey taker who also chooses Virgin Atlantic miles from time to time? If so, check your account to see whether you’ve also lost the payout option…

Interesting. I wonder what the criteria is. Must have something to do with the company who originally referred you to E-Rewards.

I suppose that Hilton is going to get my excess points going forward.

I was thinking exactly the same. Have any hotel groups separated relationships with VA recently as this may be the answer why VA vanished off some accounts.

Not sure. But I would have thought that maybe it is referrals from a different airline that matter. Why would Avios refer you to E-Rewards and then let you take your rewards as VS?

Yes very true, I didn’t mention airlines as I havnt heard of any leaving the partner alliance group recently.
Looks like nobody knows why some drop off certain accounts then!
