You can currently snag 1,000 free IHG Rewards Points in one minute by signing up to IHG Business Rewards and then opting into a promotion.
To get the Points there are just two things you need to do:
First, head to this page here, sign into your existing IHG account, and click to complete your Business Rewards enrolment:
You should then see a screen with the following welcome:
Next, go to this promo page here and click on the first option in order to register for the 1,000 Points offer:
Click on “Register Now”
and you should then get a confirmation message straight away, as below:
The Points should then be awarded within 30 days.
Signing up takes literally 60 seconds and seems to be open to everyone (I’ve tried a few different family members’ accounts).
What is IHG Business Rewards?
Business Rewards allows you to earn IHG Points on your account when booking rooms, meetings or events for other people.
The earning rate is a modest 3 Points per $1 USD, but they all add up!
According to the terms, “Qualifying Spend on guest rooms only includes guest rooms which a Member books for others. It excludes spend on Member’s own guest room”. I’m interested to see how that actually works out in practice – I wouldn’t be surprised to see the bonus Points posting on all stays.
Points earned through Business Rewards do count towards elite status.
Bottom line
1,000 free IHG Rewards Points and the opportunity to earn a few more from future stays – sounds good to me!

Promotion
In order to participate in the promotion you must be an IHG® Business Rewards Member, have accepted the IHG Business Rewards programme terms and conditions
(www.ihg.com/businessrewards), and registered your membership number to this Promotion (“Registration”).

I had the same problem. I seem to have ended up with an extra account and no bonus points. It asked for a promo code which I didn’t have.

You have left out an important detail in your article. i.e. This will create a NEW account for you. You do not get 1000 points added onto your existing account. Not much you can do with 1K on its own & I imagine the proportion of people making bookings for other people is relatively low. Hence, rather pointless article but thanks for bringing to attention anyways.

Strange – worked absolutely fine for me (as I say, tested on a few accounts…). No Points credited yet, but terms say it can take up to 30 days.

To clarify – no second account was set up (which I agree would be pretty pointless!). Instead the existing accounts now say “IHG Business Rewards” under the Points balance and status level on the main “my account” page when signed in.

Registered ok but now have a question. As others have said, my account now shows as IHG business rewards. As the promotion says you earn 3 points per $ for bookings, does that mean we now earn less than the previous 10 points per $ for “non business rewards membership?

I have answered my own question after a quick check of the terms. 3 points per $ is for booking on behalf of others. 10 points per $ still applies to any bookings for myself.

I seem to have successfully added Business Rewards to my account but it has posted as 0pts on my account. Will it change to 1,000pts later?
