Before you get too excited – I need to say that there are a couple of catches which I will come to in a moment. First though, here’s the offer details:
You get 1000 Points for registration, 5000 Points for the first stay, 9000 Points for the second stay, and 15,000 Points for the third Stay. Upon completion of all three stays you also get 10,000 Points as an additional bonus (so the third stay really gets you 25,000 Points!).
This is a seriously good offer, and the fact it runs all the way until the end of the year is even better. It should also be stackable with IHG’s regular ‘Accelerate’ bonus Points promotions (regardless of what the terms say) too!
What’s the catch?
The first catch isn’t too bad – in order to count as ‘Qualifying Stays’, stays have to take place in the following regions: Asia Pacific (excluding China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), the Middle East or Africa.
Obviously that means the promotion is no use to you if you’re not going to be visiting any of those regions before the end of the year. The promotion runs for another 9 months though and many readers will have travel plans in those regions, so that’s not a deal killer.
The bigger problem is that, although I can’t see anything specific in the terms, my understanding is that your IHG Rewards Club account also has to have an address listed as being in one the above regions too.
When I tried to register my existing personal account (which has a UK address) I kept receiving error messages, but when I set up a new account (legitimately created with a business address in Asia) I could register without any issues.
What you do with that information is, of course, entirely up to you…
I should point out that IHG does have a history of shutting down multiple accounts, so there is potential risk here if you mess about. If you have an existing account with elite status and lots of Points in it, I wouldn’t recommend doing anything that might put that at risk.
This is potentially a great IHG Bonus Points offer, but obviously isn’t suitable for everyone. If you are unable to take advantage, the good news is that there should be another ‘Accelerate’ bonus open to everyone very soon!
IHG Bonus Points Offer Terms
Must be an IHG® Rewards Club member and must register member number in advance to participate in this promotion.
