World of Hyatt have finally announced details of a bonus point promotion for 2017. They are calling it Double Points for Being You. It will run from 1 April until 30 June, 2017.

Double Points for Being You is rather simple. Members must pre-register (do it here) and will then earn double points starting with their second stay.

World of Hyatt members earn five base points per U.S. dollar spent (members with elite status earn a bit more) Double points only applies to those five base points.

If we look at my valuation chart, this basically means an additional rebate of approximately 8-10%.

Whilst this is undoubtedly better than nothing, it is also a far cry from the lucrative promotions that we have seen in the past from Hyatt, such as the 75,000 bonus points for 25 nights promotion that was run twice in 2016. That promotion offered up to 3,000 bonus points per night, if you could manage all 25; to earn 3,000 bonus points per night with this spring’s promotion, you’d need to spend $600 per night! So, it looks like this promotion is more of the me-too variety, to remain competitive with the other chains offering double points…

If you have a long or expensive stay coming up with Hyatt, you might want to consider squeezing in a one-night stay beforehand. That way you will earn double points on the higher point-earning stay…
