IHG (Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn etc), has a new winter sale on. You can book the IHG sale rates on this page until 24th February, for dates between 2nd December 2016 – 27th February 2017.

The IHG sale is for hotels in Europe only, and not every hotel in the region is participating. You can check out the full list of participating hotels here.

Sale rates are non-refundable and require advance booking of at least 3-21 days, subject to the individual conditions of each participating hotel.

The minimum discount is 30 % off the Best Flexible Rate for weekend bookings and 13% off when booking a stay from Monday night to Thursday night. Given that non-refundable rates are almost always available and almost always cheaper than the Best Flexible Rate, the real discount is likely to be less than 30%.

If you’re booking more than 21 days in advance, I would highly recommend taking a look the MasterCard ‘Partner Rate’ too before booking anything, as the discounts tend to work out more substantial than IHG’s usual sales. You don’t need to book with a MasterCard (or even have one!) but may occasionally get asked for a form you can print off here (I’ve been asked a couple of times out of many dozens of stays).

Bottom line

Sales are always good to see, but just make sure you can’t book cheaper using the MasterCard rate (which definitely earns Points and is status qualifying, in case you were wondering!).

Hopefully we’ll get some details on the next ‘Accelerate’ promotion soon too, as the current one ends in about a month. In the meantime, if you’ve already completed your Accelerate targets, I’d try and book with Hilton whenever possible instead at the moment due to the very generous (and stackable) bonuses currently available.
