Hilton has just launched a generous and very straightforward promotion, offering 5,000 free Hilton points on every stay you make at a Hilton property until 31 January 2017.

To benefit, you need to register here and then i) book via the app and ii) pay with a Visa card. As noted above, the 5,000 bonus Hilton points will apply to each and every stay before 31 January 2017.

5,000 is a very good bonus points haul for one stay (which could be just one night at a budget priced Hampton should you wish) – indeed it’s enough to get you a free night at a number of Hilton properties.

To be clear, the 5,000 free Hilton points only applies to cash (and, it seems, points and money) stays. You will not get the bonus for reward stays booked purely with Hilton points.

In the very unlikely event you don’t have a Visa card, note that this offer (per the terms and conditions, below) applies to a spend on “any Visa card”, so you could just load up a pre-paid Visa card and use that.

A couple of important points to note:

First, this offer will stack with the Hilton triple points offer for bookings via the app (running until 31 December 2016), but you must also register for that promo here first. So to be clear, to benefit from 5,000 bonus points and triple (base) points, you need to register here then here, then book via the app. (Ok, I’m slightly regretting my “very straightforward” comment above, but follow my instructions to the letter and you’ll be fine.)

Secondly, if you have been targeted for the American Express £50 off £250 spent at Hilton properties, you should prioritise this. £50 is worth more than 5,000 Hilton points.

However, unlike the 5,000 bonus points offer, you can use the American Express offer once only, and it (probably: mine does) expires on 30 November, so there’s plenty of time to use both.
