500 Free ‘La Quinta Returns’ Points – And How They Can Help You Save 40% On Hotel Stays With ANY Brand

Earlier in the week, I mentioned a weird trick that allows you to make big savings on hotel stays, by purchasing ‘La Quinta Returns’ Points

I was worried that the deal might get pulled quickly because it is ludicrously generous, but as of 15:40 on 29th October 2016, it’s still working fine! Surprisingly, the deal hasn’t been picked up by any of the big American Points/Miles blogs yet, so at least until that happens I think we can now be fairly confident that it will continue to work.

I’ve got two related pieces of news to share:

The first is that you can currently get 500 free La Quinta Returns Points for a couple of minutes messing about on social media.

la-quinta

Register here and then complete the following ‘tasks’ (maximum earning capped at 500 Points)

  • Register and Receive 100 points
  • Link Your Social Handles to La Quinta and get 100 points per channel
  • During Registration, Follow us on Twitter and Instagram to receive 100 additional points for each follow
  • Tweet or Instagram with #LQReturns and get 50 points.

500 Points is worth about £4.50, so well worth having.

The second piece of news is that I’ve been doing some more experiments, and I’ve discovered that the La Quinta site is great for Europe, North America and South America, but it’s doesn’t offer any results at all for Africa, Asia or Oceania. I don’t know if this is a temporary glitch or not – and to be honest I’m not in any hurry to direct La Quinta’s attention to this…

In the regions it does work for, the discounts you can get by buying La Quinta Returns Points and then using them to book hotels (more or less any hotel, not La Quinta hotels!) are astounding.

Recap:

You can buy La Quinta Returns Points for £9.00 ($11.00) per 1,000, and can purchase up to 40,000 Points each year. Purchases can take up to 24 hours to process.

You can then use La Quinta Points to pay for all sorts of hotels on the site they’ve put together with Pointshound here.

The deals:

It’s important to point out that not every single hotel will be cheaper, so always do a quick comparison. What’s remarkable is that so many genuinely work out around 40% cheaper, which is huge!

Sofitel Berlin Gendarmenmarkt, 16th December 2016:

£137.00 is the cheapest rate I could find online,

sofitel

but you can use 9,725 La Quinta Points instead, which you can purchase for just £87.50 – a 36% discount.

New York, 3rd February 2017

Starting at the (relatively) lower end, the cheapest rate for the well-reviewed 4* Avalon hotel is £109.00,

avalon-1

but just 7,050 La Quinta Points, which is about £63.50 – a 41.5% discount. A good 4* hotel, one block away from the Empire State Building, for less than £65.00 is incredible value!

Moving up a notch, Starwood’s 5* W New York Times Square Hotel is £211.00 online

w-new-york

or ~£127 via the La Quinta trick (14.075 La Quinta Points) – a 40% saving.

The Four Seasons New York Downtown is one of the best (and priciest) hotels in New York. The cheapest standard rate I could find was about £463.00 ($564.63).

With the La Quinta trick you only need 31,025 La Quinta Points – roughly £280.00.

Again, that’s a saving of almost 40%!

Madrid 4th December 2016

The cheapest rate at the excellent 5* NH Palacio de Tepa is £151.00,

For the same date, the cheapest rate at the stunning ‘Royal Monceau-Raffles’  is £536.00.

Alternatively, you could save yourself 35% and pay £349 by buying 38,750 La Quinta Points instead.

London 18th December

Fancy a pre-Christmas break to London?

Marriott’s Autograph Collection Threadneedles Hotel is a, quite reasonable, £110.00 online,

london-2

but you can stay for as little as £66.50 by purchasing 7,375 La Quinta Points instead – a 39.5% saving.

Design Hotels’ (SPG linked)  5* Town Hall Hotel is either £132.00,

london-3

or £80.00 via La Quinta (8,850 Points) – another 39% discount.

london-4

Superb 5* hotels in London for well under £100.00 is an absolute bargain!

Conclusion

This is one of the very best deals around for booking hotels. I imagine it will get picked up by the big American Points/Miles/Travel blogs and websites at some point and that La Quinta will reduce the value available considerably soon after that happens – so take advantage while you can!

I signed up for this in the week and completed the tasks but when i try to log in it will not allow me entry to my account even though i use the same passwords all the time, has anyone else encountered the same issue?

    • Joe Deeney says

Fortunately not – I’d send them a quick email, or just use a different email address for a new account if you haven’t bought any Points yet.
