Joe was so proud of his intellectually unparalleled “Train Tuesday” moniker a few weeks back that I thought it only right to revive it.
This time round we have the Virgin Summer Seat Sale for the next 3 days (i.e. until 7 July), with one-way fares across the UK starting at a more-than-impressive £4 for travel from 23 July to 4 September 2016.
Second is a Eurostar Sale on Standard Premier seats (effectively Eurostar’s “premium economy” level). You need to book by 18 July, and will get up to 30% off travel to Paris, Brussels and Lille between 18 July and 10 December 2016 or to Lyon, Avignon and Marseille between 11 July and 29 October 2016.
As an added bonus, don’t forget that if you’re an Amex cardholder, you can get £20 off a £60 spend on Eurostar at the moment.
Availability is currently very good in both sales.
In the Virgin Sale, we found a £4 ticket on our very first text booking, between London Euston and Birmingham New Street in August:
In the Eurostar sale, we found tickets from London St Pancras to Paris for a solid £59 one way:
If you’re planning a UK or European train trip (or indeed both) this summer, you should take a look at these. Also, remember that if you have an American Express card you can register for £20.00 off when you spend £60.00 or more with Eurostar!
