Fancy earning a few extra AAdvantage or Etihad miles to boost you balance? All this and being able to enjoy some luxury time in the air?

There is currently a fantastic Business Class deal available on Etihad, flying from Belgrade to Beijing for just £750 return.

Belgrade you say? So where exactly is that and how is this deal any use to me?

As the more geographically enlightened will be aware, Belgrade is the capital of Serbia. So yes, you will need to get to Serbia to take advantage of this deal. However, that is easily done (see below), and given the money you will potentially save by relocating your starting point, it’s well worth considering.

In terms of the deal itself, it’s important to note that it’s valid from the start of September 2016, and the sale fares are currently bookable all the way through until May 2017.

I checked out an example date and did 4 May 2017 – 7 June, just to show you how far this deal goes:

I wanted to mix up my trip a bit, so decided to try Air Serbia on my final flight (one of the Etihad Airways Partners). This is a great chance to enjoy three different Business Class products. Etihad’s small but private A320 Business Class, the wonderful A330 flat beds and also the unknown quantity that is Air Serbia. You can also just use Etihad on the final flight, should you prefer.

And then you need to add in the flights from the UK!

You can use the low cost carrier Wizz Air and fly non-stop from Luton. The night before I was finding fares for just £29 each way.

Whether you’ll need to overnight in Belgrade will of course depend on your flight times. In these circumstances, you would need to also factor in the overnight at Belgrade. I found hotels for a one night stay between £30 and £40.

All in, you would be be looking at around £750 + £40, and lets say another £100 for Wizz Air with all the add ons – so a total of £890 for a long haul Business Class round-trip to Beijing, with a stopover in Belgrade.

One of the added bonuses to this deal is that it books into Etihad Z class, so you can earn the full miles from the flights, and even credit them to American AAdvantage, should you choose. AAdvantage miles are some of the best miles out there and they are fairly tricky to collect, not least if you are UK based.

This flight would net you over 12,000 Miles, in addition to giving you a bargain Business Class flight to China. The deal from Belgrade is also valid to other parts of Asia: you just need to check around to find them leaving from BEG.
